#20 Adult's Aran Sweaters Knitting Pattern - Yankee Knitter Designs
Adult Aran Sweaters cardigan & pullover * 9 sizes *
The Adult Aran sweater is a simplified aran. Many arans are confusing to knit because the pattern sts all happen on different rows and it’s challenging to keep track of them. The pattern stitches in this sweater fall on the same rows so it is easy to follow.
The sweater is knit with worsted wt yarn and it is knit in pieces and then sewn together.
Keep in mind that cables tend to pull-in while seed st is tends to lay flat. Don’t worry, the cables with “relax” after wearing or you can always wash your sweater by hand and lay it flat to dry. I suggest not blocking because you could easily over block and flatten out the cables.
Don’t be intimidated by this sweater, if you have never knit an Aran sweater before this is a great one to start with. Also, don’t read too far ahead when following your instructions or you may get all confused….just read a row ahead. The first Aran sweater that I ever knit was when I was 19 and living in Maine for the summer without my mother nearby….. I was panicked and thought I couldn’t knit it if I didn’t have her there to help. I just went slowly, kept track of my rows and it turned out great…although the sleeves where too long (at 19 who knew you had to measure your arms and adjust the sleeve length…lesson learned)
Thank you for taking a look & happy aran knitting!
